What Some of My Students Say About Me
I had the pleasure of taking Dutch lessons with Sandra for over two years (after trying quite a few different types of courses) and I honestly think that without her I would have given up altogether. Sandra was always there to support me, and also push me when needed to keep going. She has the ability to teach you the basics from the ground up but also to really elevate you into a Dutch speaker, who is confident enough to hold a conversation. We also shared many reading materials ranging from children’s books, local newspapers, and up to poetry, which was an amazing tool you don’t typically get in other Dutch classes!

Thanks to her guidance and patience, I am now at a professional speaking, reading, and writing level and although I still make some mistakes, I am not afraid to laugh about it and keep going.
Once I felt I was at the level I was aiming at, she moved on to also teach my brother, sister-in-law, and even my 4-year-old nephew. She truly is a uniquely sensitive and professional teacher.”
Sometimes having these lessons can also be quite emotional as you are after all a foreigner in this country and in that sense, it’s also a type of coaching into your integration into the new setting, country, and environment and that is something Sandra has a very unique insight for.
She helped me believe I could really find my way into the Dutch culture and I know she did the same for my nephew, who is raised by parents who are not Dutch. This was an extra challenge for them, as many foreign parents may experience when getting ready to send their children into the Dutch daycare and school system and Sandra was an enormous help in that as well. In addition to having the sensitivity and kindness to take into account the entire family situation around it.
